Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.

~Chinese Proverb

hi there. a short update from the knight clan...

we are still in the dark and trying not to "curse the darkness". we've been lucky- our property and belongings are safe. we have warm places to stay and are not having to wait it out in a 40-degree house. it didn't snow much last night either. now if they can get power back on before our water freezes in our pipes, that will be all i could ask for. i dreamt that it happened last night, so perhaps our time is near. when it is, those without power will be welcome at our (messy) house! i must also say that i am appreciative of the hospitality of my grandparents and must admit it's been a happy accident to get to spend this quality time with them. our schedules don't usually allow for such a luxury.

if you read this blog you may remember their fiftieth anniversary party this past summer:

thanks again to them for everything.

today we are headed to my other grandma's house- it's much closer to the restaurant, where i am working late tonight, and it is also much closer to our house so that we can get home quickly to get the heater and such going if our power is restored. the only downside: no internet at her house. at least we have paul's phone to check email! i gave him so much grief about getting that blackjack at the time, but i sure am glad now! (that sentence sounds grammatically awful but i can't think how to fix it... oh well)

hope all is well with everyone else - hopefully we'll have cheerier, at-our-own-home-ier, news soon.
