WHEREFORE ART THOU, weekend?!

oh my gosh you guys. yesterday. leaving for work, got my keys and my coffee (which is remarkable cause i usually forget it) and my purse- "oops! i left something out!", i think to myself- and go to get it, leaving the FRONT DOOR OPEN LIKE AN IDIOT. you already know where i am going with this, don't you? yep, sketch got out. he got out exactly twice when we first moved in and it was no big deal, caught him at the neighbor's house, you know. this time, however, he RAN TOWARD YALE. i am screaming. paul catches on and gets shoes on and runs outside. by this time, MY DOG IS RUNNING DOWN YALE. he is just chilling, crossing, not crossing, whatever. a neighbor kid is mowing the lawn- sketcherton goes up to him- i ask him to grab the dog, but he just looks at him, AND KEEPS THE LAWNMOWER RUNNING. awesome. anyway he crosses the street again and gets distracted by barking at a pit bull long enough that we can corner him and drag his stupid (but thankfully alive) ass home uninjured, but definitely in trouble. but in reality, it's all my fault. LAME. so in honor of this trauma, here's a cute pic i have never posted of mister eighteen pounds of lucky-to-be-alive, in one of his calmer moments:

ON TO HAPPIER STUFF: long weekend! some time off work! laura's going away party! CAN YOU BELIEVE SHE IS LEAVING FOR LA on WEDNESDAY????

laura, we know you will have so much success there, but we will miss you TERRIBLY!

in honor of laura, here's a cute one of her and paul at our wedding:

when my little jack russell escapes, i just get his attention and then run away from him. he thinks it is a game and chases me. works every time.

I remember a couple months ago once when Ches took off running and ran right in front of a truck. I screamed and covered my eyes. Seth came running out of the house cause he thought I was being attacked or something. Luckily the driver slammed on brakes and missed him, but I was so upset and scared, that I couldn't stop crying. I couldn't calm down. I kinda got the feeling that's what being a parent is like.....constant fear that something might harm your little ones...even if it's thier own dern fault.
