so i am standing there,

alone, in my kitchen, the day before easter. all i want is for this thing to be cute! god knows it won't be gourmet, it's from a doctored cake mix and all my family members are practically gourmet chefs.

but the icing just wont do its thing! should i have used regular instead of cream cheese? is this because i am using a butter knife to frost a cake? there are carrotty crumbs everywhere! aaaah!

* yes, this is the sort of irrational crap that goes thru my brain. why, i'm not sure.

all right. maybe it's not so bad. yeah.....maybe it will be okay after all. thats looking....better....right?

i don't look terribly convinced.

okay, okay. this is fine. it's just a cake. maybe with some coconut on there it will round things out a bit...let's hope so.

*shake shake shake, shake shake shake, shake that coconut*

holy easter miracle batman! that shit looks awesome! its TOTALLY fluffy and bunnylike! weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

at this point, as i color the green coconut for his grass, i am slightly perturbed that he's not centered on the tray, but ignore this, because well, half of being an artist is learning to fix your mistakes. instead i focus on what to name him. i dont think i ever decided for certain, as the same names always drift through my head when i want to name something ridiculous. it's almost ALWAYS rupert.

but i digress.

so little rupert, since he now seems fluffy and full of bunny potential, is getting my full decorative attention, and i decide i've taken way too many pictures of a cake for any sane individual. so i bust out the candies and make him come to life.

and i must say, he's a handsome devil!

a few peep chicks to take up the extra space on the right side, and an ingenius (if i do say so myself) addition to the recipe in the form of sour straw whiskers, and ta da! bunnytastic!

i am (unwashed but) elated:

and affectionate:

and probably in need of serious medication.

see you tomorrow, captain cutiepants!

so, he was pretty tasty. and easter with the fam was good. the cupcakes were good too, but i figured this was too thorough a food post already. did i tell you that i made plain, key lime, and strawberry daiquiri cupcakes? mmm. lots of lime peel.

anyway, have to go to work and hook up my new cpu so perhaps i will tell you about the OTHER bunny story i have soon....bleah.
