mercy rule

so, riverfield football started this week! i took a million pictures of the students and the pep rally and the game, but then my battery died. the other battery and the battery charger seem to have buggered off somewhere, not wanting to be found. which means i can't do anything with any of these pictures! tragic.

last year, our 8-man team won one game of the 6-game season. we lost due to mercy rule in a couple of the games last year - meaning we were down like 50-0 or something like that, so they just call the game there and then. it makes sense, but i never knew it existed before last year.

well- we've already tied last year's record and WON in two quarters, with mercy rule going into effect at the half. we won 60-0! it's so adorable to see everyone grow, and the programs grow. the football team, the drumline, the cheerleaders (7 this year, growing from last year's 3), the new students getting involved with things, et cetera. it really makes up for the times when they are needy and whiny and frustrating!!! hahaha. (don't tell any of them i said that! or their parents....)

in other football news, tu CRUSHED north texas last night and that's pretty sweet. today is the first browns game of the year. i am excited about it, but did we HAVE to start our season against the COWBOYS? really? and a 3pm game to boot. by the time those late games are over, there's no weekend left!!!
